Best Overall:
Makita 2705X1

PROS

  • Great value for the money
  • 32-T carbide blade included
  • Adjustable dual-side guards
  • Even cheaper without the stand
  • Accurate and stable miter gauge
  • Very reliable 15A 4,800 RPM motor

CONS

  • Solid build quality but very heavy overall
  • Only comes with a one-year warranty which is not a lot compared to other manufacturers

Our Review

Easily one of the best table saws on the market, the Makita 2705X1 comes with or without a stand. Even with the table saw stand it’s still under the target price, but it is on the heavy side for sure. That said, its motor is one of the best there is when talking durability, speed, and consistent torque for heavy-duty work.

Even the 32-T carbide-tipped blade is very reliable, which is always nice as it saves you from having to upgrade an additional component. This saw is easy to move around and even easier to calibrate or swap blades.

What Makes This Product Stand Out?

One of the best things about the 2705X1 is that it requires very few adjustments and calibrations out of the box. That, and the fact it features a soft start feature, make it a both efficient and safe saw to use for a wide range of projects.

Runner-up:
DeWalt DW745

PROS

  • Three-year warranty
  • Protective steel roll cage
  • High-quality rip fence guide
  • Standard dust port included
  • Quick and reliable bevel lock
  • Available in various accessory bundles
  • Modular guard system for tool-free adjustments

CONS

  • On the heavy side even without a stand
  • Plenty of torque but not as fast as other models with its top speed of 3,850 RPM

Our Review

Although this is an old model, the DeWalt DW745 is nothing if not one of the most precise table saws under $1,000. It has a 15A motor with impressive torque and durable build. The protective steel roll cage adds a lot of value, as does the modular guard system or the bevel lock.

This saw is easy to use and compact enough to carry between jobsites. Even though it’s on the heavy side and doesn’t work well with dado stacks, the 20” rip capacity is true. The calibrations are on point and the components don’t wobble or misalign when hit, or through vibrations.

What Makes This Product Stand Out?

The compact designed powered by a high-torque motor is the main highlight. Together with the very accurate and reliable rip fence action, of course. The DeWalt DW745 is also a bargain for anyone that doesn’t need to do any heavy-duty work but needs something for minor repair work, remodeling, etc.

Hold up, are you interested in other topics related to table saws? If so, these might be something to consider:

Best for the Money:
SkilSaw SPT99-11

PROS

  • Max 5,000 RPM
  • Very solid build quality
  • Comes with stand included
  •  Standard dust collector port
  • Dual-field motor for extra torque
  • Convenient pinion fence system
  • Long power cord for more freedom

CONS

  • A short stand is not always ideal
  • Comes with only a one-year limited warranty
  • Not easy to assemble by inexperienced woodworkers

Our Review

First of all, the SPT99-11 is a heavy-duty table saw with a 10” blade. Due to its compact size, It’s best-suited for smaller projects, but it’s also a very precise tool. Between the precision rack system and the pinion fence system, adjustments can be made fast and without much need for rechecking.

The saw also features a dust port, comes with a large 16” wheels stand, and proper outfeed left support. This is great if you want to cut through larger pieces of wood without assistance. The entire ensemble is very stable, durable, and allows for smooth, on-the-fly calibrations.

What Makes This Product Stand Out?

The large rip capacity of 30.5” is probably what makes this table saw stand out. That, and its low asking price, when you factor in the stand. Given its compact size and rip capacity, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better similar saw in its price range.

PROS

  • 30”/15” high rip capacity
  • High-end fan motor cooling system
  • Big 4” dust port for better debris management
  •  Enclosed cabinet design for extended motor life
  • Cast iron core table for added durability and stability

CONS

  • High torque motor but with a lower no load speed
  •  Not for people that need a portable cutting table saw

Our Review

This can very well be the flagship table saw from Ridgid. The Model R4512 table saw has a cabinet table saw design. It’s great if you want something quieter and with better dust management. Not only is there a big 4” built-in dust port, but the presence of a cabinet will minimize the amount of debris that gets into the engine.

The cast iron core table is a nice touch and well leveled. It does a good job of reducing vibrations and should help with ripping through long pieces of wood, including sheet materials. The 13A motor isn’t the most powerful but offers good torque and will handle tough pieces of wood when fed at a slower pace.

What Makes This Product Stand Out?

The extended motor life and superior dust management are the two standout features. While not everyone needs a cabinet table saw, those that do will appreciate how long lasting this model can be. Of course, the low noise operation and cleanliness of the work surface are solid incentives too.

  •  Heavy-duty 7A motor with high torque

CONS

  • Made by a lesser known and reputable manufacturer
  • Bare-tool product that will require some additional accessories

Our Review

While this table saw isn’t made by one of the most recognizable manufacturers, it still has plenty to offer. First of all, it’s one of the few at this proposed price range that accommodates 12” blades and provides the necessary torque to go with one.

The design is user-friendly, intuitive, with everything being easy enough to be put together. Although it lacks some accessories, the table saw provides great stability through its solid foldable frame and allows for user customizations too.

Between that and the reliable cabinet design and proper dust management, it’s a noteworthy alternative for enthusiasts and professionals.

What Makes This Product Stand Out?

This saw has two features that set it apart. First, the 32.6” rip capacity. Secondly, the folding steel frame that provides almost unparalleled support and balance. If you want to rip through tough materials like pressure treated hardwood, this could be the way to go.

What Do I Need to Know Before Buying?

Besides comparing table saws on motor power and build durability, here are some more things you should consider before buying.

Types of Table Saws

Before you buy, you need to familiarize yourself with a few popular types of table saws. Tabletop saws may have limited cutting capacity but they’re very easy to transport. Mobile saws come with portable stands that can give you a very different sense of mobility and freedom.

Hybrid saws or contractor saws have more durable tables and bigger motors. But, at the same time, they can be taken apart easier and moved from jobsite to jobsite. Each type of saw has its purpose in various working conditions.

Rip Capacity

The rip or ripping capacity refers to the size of the wood you can cut with a table saw. Large tables usually come with a higher capacity. But the ripping capacity doesn’t always also imply better precision.

Miter Gauge and Rip Fence

These two accessories need to be very good in order for you to do good work. Look for a rip fence guide that doesn’t unclamp from the smallest bump and that doesn’t need to be recalibrated after every cut.

Look for a miter gauge that’s accurate and offers good visibility. Some manufacturers make miter gauges that aren’t 100% accurate. This results in users needing to upgrade that component out of the box.

Conclusion

The best table saws don’t have to be expensive in order to be good. You should always look out for tools from reputable manufacturers, find the right size table saw for your line of work, and make sure that you’re not just buying raw cutting power but also quality accessories that can be properly calibrated for accurate, professional cuts.
